Christmas & New Year's Holiday Operating Plan

Union Pacific plans to have reduced operations during both the Christmas and New Year's weekends.

If you would like to request service at your facility during either holiday weekend, please open a Service Issue for each weekend on our website prior to close of business on Friday, December 14, 2012. You may also contact Customer Service at 1-800-272-8777 to have them open a Service Issue on your behalf. Feedback will be provided regarding the availability of service over the holidays.

This operating plan is subject to change in the event of a major service interruption or weather event. Thank you for your cooperation. On behalf of all of the employees of Union Pacific, we would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season.

Christmas:
Union Pacific plans to have reduced operations from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, December 24, 2012 through 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.   Most originating manifest and perishable train service will be annulled.

Coal, soda ash and potash, grain, military and rock trains will operate. The intermodal and automotive network will have reduced operations with selected annulments and consolidations depending on volumes.

All trains enroute will operate to destination with anticipated online delays for a brief period Christmas morning. Some yard and local operations will be curtailed based on traffic levels and customer needs. Critical customer-specific switching requests will be protected. Interchange operations will be coordinated as required with connecting railroads at all locations.

New Year's:
Union Pacific plans to have reduced operations from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2012 through 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Most originating manifest and perishable train service will be annulled.
