To Our Customers,

Velocity was up compared to the previous week, though heavy rains caused substantial network interruptions late last week and early this week. Work to repair flood-damaged track along the Marysville Subdivision in Nebraska was completed on the evening of May 9, and most of the bridge and track outages in our Southern Region were repaired by today. Maintenance projects for the coming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 11 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on key routes in the Pacific Northwest, Central Corridor and Texas. View information on current maintenance projects (user ID and password required).

Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending May 9, 2015, were 175,611. This is down 2.7 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 25.1 mph, which is up 0.2 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 28.1 hours, which is flat compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 292,920 cars online, which is flat to the previous week.
