To Our Customers,

Velocity reached a level not seen since January 2014 and was accompanied by a modest increase in carloadings and improvement in system terminal dwell. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 14 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on the Northern Region, the Central Corridor and North-South Routes. Starting this week, Union Pacific will perform a maintenance blitz on the Worthington Subdivision, which is located between Sioux City, Iowa, and St. James, Minn. Portions of the subdivision will be completely closed Sept. 1-7 and Sept. 16-23. Re-route plans have been established, and customers along the route have individual plans designed to minimize interruptions. As part of our bridge replacement strategy, we will be undergoing a 48-hour bridge outage on our Chester Subdivision over the Labor Day weekend between Gorham, Mo., and Dexter, Mo., beginning on Sunday, Sept. 6 and wrapping up on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 8. Detailed reroute plans have been designed to minimize traffic disruptions along the route. Check out our maintenance projects (user ID and password required) for more information on the Worthington Sub blitz and other maintenance projects.
