Posted Date: September 16, 2015

To Our Customers,

The holiday week brought an expected decline in carloadings and an increase in terminal dwell time. Velocity increased slightly over the previous week. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 11 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on the Northern and Southern Regions. The second half of the Worthington Subdivision maintenance blitz gets underway on Wednesday, Sept. 16 and will run through Wednesday, Sept. 23. A portion of the subdivision, which is located between Sioux City, Iowa, and St. James, Minn., will be closed to complete a major rail and tie renewal project. Reroute and specific customer service plans established in advance of the first closure have helped minimize interruptions. Check out our maintenance projects (user ID and password required) for more information on the Worthington Sub blitz and other maintenance projects.

Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending Sept. 12, 2015, were 163,810. This is down 10.6 percent compared to the previous week.

  • System terminal dwell was 31.2 hours, which is up 3.7 hours compared to the previous week.
