To Our Customers,

A small increase in carloadings was accompanied by a slight decline in velocity. Last week, heavy rains and mudslides affected part of our network in California; however, we were able to efficiently and effectively address these issues and minimize impact on operations. This week, we are continuing to address issues caused by major rainfall in much of Texas. Scheduled maintenance projects for the upcoming week include tie, rail and bridge maintenance on 15 key subdivisions, with a heavy focus on the Northern and Southern regions. Check for more information on our maintenance projects (user ID and password required).

Below are some network statistics from last week:

  • Carloadings for the week ending Oct. 24, 2015, were 176,957. This is up 0.7 percent compared to the previous week.
  • AAR system velocity was 26.5 mph, which is down 0.3 mph compared to the previous week.
  • System terminal dwell was 27.5 hours, which is down 0.1 hours compared to the previous week.
  • In total, we had 293,274 cars online, which is flat compared to the previous week.
