To Our Customers,

A winter storm in the western part of the United States brought major snowfalls to parts of 12 states -- stretching from Arizona and California to Minnesota. Interstate 80 was closed in various spots this week, including a 350-mile stretch in Wyoming between Cheyenne and Evanston. The treacherous road conditions and copious amounts of snow impacted Union Pacific's switching capabilities and crew accessibility. Union Pacific implemented its winter weather preparedness plan and is working around the clock to restore operations to normal. Customers with traffic traversing the hardest hit areas of Wyoming and Colorado should expect delays of up to 24 hours.

A new storm system began moving into the Pacific Northwest this morning, bringing heavy rain to western Oregon and Washington. Heavy snow, predicted at eight to 16 inches, is expected in higher portions of the Cascades with freezing rain in the central portions of both states. This weather system is expected to last throughout the day on Friday. Union Pacific has implemented its weather preparedness plan in the Pacific Northwest to help maintain service and minimize customer impacts.
