Christmas and New Year's Holiday Operating Plan

To Our Customers,

Union Pacific plans to have reduced operations for both the Christmas and New Year's holidays. 

If you would like to request service at your facility during either holiday weekend, please visit our website to open a Service Issue for each weekend prior to the close of business on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016. You may also contact Customer Service at 800-272-8777 to have someone open a Service Issue on your behalf. Feedback will be provided regarding the availability of service over the holidays. 

This operating plan is subject to change in the event of a major service interruption or weather event. Thank you for your cooperation. On behalf of all the employees of Union Pacific, we would like to wish you a safe and happy holiday season. 

Christmas:
Union Pacific plans to shut down yard operations from 7 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, through 6:59 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016. Manifest origin departures will shut down at noon on Saturday, Dec. 24 and will resume at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 26. 

Coal, soda ash and potash, grain, military, rock and crude oil strains will operate. The intermodal and automotive networks will have reduce operations with selected annulments and consolidations depending on volumes. 

All trains en route will operate to destination with anticipated online delays for a brief period Christmas morning. Some yard and local operations will be curtailed based on traffic levels and customer needs. Critical customer-specific switching requests will be protected. Interchange operations will be coordinated as required with connecting railroads at all locations

Operations at border crossings also will be impacted, as indicated below:
