Christmas & New Year's Holiday Operating Plan

To Our Customers,

In anticipation of the forthcoming holidays, we want to update you on operations during this time to ensure we’re meeting your service expectations.

In order to adjust for reduced traffic volumes, we plan to have modified operations during the Christmas holidays on December 24-25, 2018, and the New Year’s holidays, December 31, 2018-January 1, 2019. 

  • Manifest and bulk networks will operate normally, crews permitting.
  • Major interchange locations will remain open. Mexican and Canadian interchange gateways will have normal operations.
  • Automotive and intermodal trains will operate based on customer demand. Active trains will continue to final destination.
  • Yard and local train operations will run based on customer needs, crews permitting.

Request Service During the Holiday
If your facility requires service during the holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day), please submit a Service Issue (user ID and password required) to request a holiday switch prior to close of business on December 17, 2018, for the Christmas holidays and December 21, 2018, for the New Year's holidays. You may also contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 to request service during the holiday.
