Nature of Firm

BSDA provides local switching service over two miles of track in St. Louis, MO connecting with UP. The company does inter-plant switching at Amoco Additives Division and Shell Oil Company (now called Equillion) in Wood River. Respondek was awarded the contract to serve Arch of IL Coal Mine. This is a five mile coal line located near Percy, IL. Respondek is the operator and brings in UP trains for loading and weighing and sends them back to UP main line.

History

Bi-State Development Agency is owned by the City of St. Louis, MO which acquired the line from NS. Short line service started June 17, 1989. This line was formerly operated by Railroad Switching Service of Missouri, Inc. — an affiliate of Ironhorse Resources, Inc. It is now operated by the Respondek Railroad Corporation.
