NVRR operates freight and passenger service from a connection with California Northern Railroad (CFNR) at Rocktram, CA to Krug, CA (21.3 miles). Traffic includes agricultural products. The railroad’s primary business is passenger excursions and “dinner trains” through the Napa Valley wine country.

History

The line was opened in 1868 by the Napa Valley Railroad. Within two years it came under the control of the Central Pacific Railroad and was renamed California Pacific Railroad. SP took control in 1885. Regular passenger service ended in 1929. The present owners acquired the line from the SP in 1987. Excursion service started September 16, 1989.
