Nature of Firm
TNER operates west from Bonham through Bells to Sherman, TX and east from New Boston to Texarkana, TX. A branch line runs from Bells to Trenton, TX, with a connection with Dallas, Garland & Northeastern. TNER operates via trackage rights over BNSF from Sherman to Denison, TX. Connections are made with UP at Denison, BNSF at Sherman, and with UP and KCS at Texarkana. TNER serves the Red River Army Depot at Defense, located just west of Texarkana.
TNER abandoned its freight service from Clarksville to Paris, TX in 1996, from Clarksville to New Boston in 1997. It discontinued service on Bonham to Paris, TX in 2004 and sold the track to the state of Texas in 2006.
History
This is a former Missouri Pacific (Texas & Pacific Railroad) line. Short line service started October 22, 1990. TNER is a Genesee & Wyoming owned and operated short line.
