Train Dispatcher Information

You Are a Valued Member of Our Management Team

Union Pacific Train Dispatchers,

I wanted to take a moment to discuss the recent efforts to unionize our Train Dispatchers. As some of you who have been at the HDC know, nine times unions have attempted to persuade Union Pacific dispatchers to relinquish control over their work lives to unions, and nine times Union Pacific dispatchers have chosen to remain part of the management team.

I hope that you choose to remain a member of our management team, as it will provide the best opportunity to continue to work directly with you on initiatives to improve operations and working conditions. We have made significant progress on increasing communications, responding with actionable items to your concerns, and addressing our staffing level to improve overall quality of life. While we still have opportunities, your input is going to make the difference in making the Harriman Dispatch Center the best it can be.

I respect your right to decide whether you want to be represented by a Union, and there will be no interference in any authorization (A-card) campaigns. It is important to remember that it is your choice – if you do not wish to be in a Union, then do not sign an A-card. I hope you will take the time to make an informed decision, including asking questions and reading through the information we’ve compiled on our Train Dispatcher Information website, so you know the applicable facts before making any decisions.

Thank you for your continued dedication as a Union Pacific Train Dispatcher. Your value cannot be understated.

John Turner
