SBG provides freight service from Midvale Yard in Midvale, Utah from a connection with Union Pacific at Roper Yard in Salt Lake City. SBG operates 17 miles of railroad servicing various customers including; Frito Lay, Interstate Brick, SME Steel, ATK, BMC West (Wood Products), Quality Steel Corporation, IGI Wax, Chevron and Savage Bingham & Garfield Trans Load Facility.
SBG opened the new Trans Load facility on July 20, 2013 to accommodate numerous customer needs including trans loading of crude oil for various destinations over Union Pacific. SBG provides daily service for our customers which increases car movement and reduces operating cost.
History
The SBG Railroad is part of the former Denver and Rio Grand Western. Union Pacific acquired Southern Pacific Railroad (which had previously acquired D&RGW) in 1996 and Savage Services Corporation acquired this portion of the Garfield and Bingham Branch lines in 2007.
