Nature of Firm
GRR operates freight service from a connection with UP at Kerr, TX to a connection with the UP at Granger, TX (24.3 miles). A second line runs from a connection with UP at Smith, TX to Belton, TX (5.9 miles). Traffic is primarily crushed stone; however, ammonium nitrate, lumber and grain are also handled.
History
The railroad was incorporated July 25, 1958 to acquire Missouri Pacific’s Georgetown branch which was being abandoned. The company won ICC approval to begin operations as of January 14, 1959. The Belton line was acquired from the Belton Railroad, March 28, 1991. That line was a former Missouri-Kansas-Texas branch line sold to Belton Railroad in 1961.
