Union Pacific’s Twin Cities Intermodal Terminal celebrated its fourth anniversary in 2025.

Union Pacific’s Twin Cities Intermodal Terminal has grown steadily each year since it opened four years ago, providing customers in the Upper Midwest region access to key markets on the West Coast.

In 2024, volume at the Minneapolis terminal increased 94% compared to the previous year, with ample capacity remaining for future expansion.

Since opening in January 2021, the terminal has offered regional shippers direct and reliable service to and from major Pacific Northwest and California markets, including Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, and Oakland.

Strategically located in the heart of Minneapolis, the terminal plays a vital role in transporting consumer goods bound for Twin Cities retailers, as well as Midwest-grown agricultural products destined for international markets.

Union Pacific has the largest intermodal network in North America, with the most direct services from coast to coast. To learn more about intermodal shipping, answer a few questions about your freight shipment(s) and an expert will be in touch.
