CFE operates freight service from Crestline, Ohio, through Lima, Ohio, through Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Tolleston, Indiana, and trackage rights over CSXT to Chicago to reach the Indiana Harbor Belt. CFE also operates four branches off its main line, for 273 total miles operated.
History
Central Railroad Company of Indianapolis leased and started operations of this former CSXT line in August 2004. Today the CFE is a RailAmerica road with an annual volume of over 39,000 cars per year. Major commodities moved include lumber, paper, chemicals, steel beams, shelled corn and hazardous materials.
