SCBG operates passenger excursion and freight service from a connection with UP at Santa Cruz to Olympia, CA (8.8 miles). Traffic is predominantly lumber. Most revenue comes from passenger excursions.

History

The line was built as three foot gauge by the Santa Cruz and Felton RR chartered in August 1874, and opened the following year. The company was acquired by the South Pacific Coast Ry in 1880 which came under SP control by 1885. The road was re-laid as standard gauge in 1908. It was sold by the SP to the present operator in September 1985. Passenger service started in 1985 and freight service resumed in 1990.
