Kimball Great Race Celebration

Kimball is located on the original transcontinental railroad line, first reached during construction on Aug. 29, 1867. To commemorate Kimball's role and the 150th anniversary of this momentous achievement, Union Pacific is presenting a commemorative Golden Spike to Mayor Keith Prunty during a special recognition ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 23, 9:30 a.m. at 2nd and Chestnut, shortly before the Farmer's Day parade.

In addition, you're invited to view The Great Race to Promontory Exhibit at the Kimball Event Center, 615 E 3rd street. The exhibit tells the story of the building of the transcontinental railroad and how it changed our country.
