Announcement Number: CN2020-43
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: August 28, 2020

To Our Customers,

We continue to work to restore service to the rail lines impacted by Hurricane Laura, following is an update on current conditions:

  • The New Orleans flood gates opened last night and we began interchanging trains with the eastern rail carriers.
  • A number of line segments were returned to service, but there are still outages throughout Louisiana and parts of Texas. (Please see the map below for additional details.) We continue to work diligently to remove trees, install generators and work with local power companies and contractors to address downed power lines.
  • Due to the damage in the surrounding Lake Charles area, additional embargoes have been issued, please see our embargo page for detailed information.
  • Customers with rail shipments moving through the impacted area should anticipate a minimum of 72 hours of additional transit time as we work to restore operations.

Customers in the affected area with facilities or tracks out of service should open a case in Case Management. Please refer to the detailed instructions on our Hurricane Planning and Recovery page so we are aware of these outages.

If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 or your Union Pacific representative.
