URGENT: Ingate Suspensions: Various Terminals in Chicago, Los Angeles and Lathrop, California for Flood Recovery Efforts
Announcement Number: IM2019-76
Categories: All Intermodal
Posted Date: March 21, 2019
Dear Premium Customers,
Due to the extensive flooding in the Midwest, Union Pacific will suspend ingates at various Union Pacific intermodal facilities in Chicago, Los Angeles and Lathrop to support recovery efforts. Recovery work is currently underway in multiple locations; however, other portions of the network are being threatened with potential flooding. To ensure Union Pacific is able to quickly process trains through critical corridors, we plan to mitigate traffic for a short period of time moving to and from Chicago. We expect these steps will aid in a faster recovery and prevent congestion at origin facilities.
The following ingate suspensions will be effective:
Effective 07:00 PDT, Friday March 22, 2019:
- Ingating traffic destined for Chicago, local and interchange, from Union Pacific's East Los Angeles, City of Industry, CA and Lathrop, California intermodal terminals will be suspended until 07:00 PDT, Sunday March 24, 2019.
Effective 07:00 CDT, Saturday March 23, 2019:
- Ingating traffic destined for Houston and Mesquite will be accepted at Chicago Global 4. All other destinations from Chicago: Global 1, Global 2 and Global 4 will be suspended until 07:00, Tuesday March 26, 2019.
- This message supersedes the announcement yesterday regarding FMS terminals at the Port of Los Angeles.
As always, in order to support terminal fluidity, customers are encouraged to outgate dwelling traffic at all Union Pacific intermodal terminals as soon as possible.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have an questions please contact your Union Pacific representative.
Sincerely,
Premium Marketing and Sales
