Service Change from California to CSXT Southeast Container Destinations

Announcement Number: IM2013-139
Categories: Domestic Service Lanes and Schedules
Posted Date: March 7, 2013

Dear Intermodal Customer:

Union Pacific is realigning our intermodal network in order to streamline routing from California to CSXT container markets in the Southeast. Effective Monday, March 25, 2013, eastbound shipments from both Los Angeles and Lathrop, CA destined to Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC will shift from the New Orleans interchange to the Memphis gateway. CSXT Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA and Florida destinations will continue to route via New Orleans with no schedule or day of week service changes.

This modification to our domestic network results in the elimination of the Saturday cutoff from Los Angeles, CA to Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC while extending the origin cutoff nearly four hours using the new route of UP-Memphis-CSXT. Shipments originating at Lathrop, CA destined to CSXT Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC will experience no changes to the day of week service or cutoff times.

For Gate Reservation purposes, a new destination of “Memphis Interchange (CSXT), TN” has been added in GRS to support both Los Angeles and Lathrop, CA to Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC shipments billed via UP-Memphis-CSXT.

Concurrent with the new Memphis interchange to and from LA and Lathrop, CSXT will implement a terminal change in Atlanta from the current Fairburn, GA facility to their Hulsey, GA terminal. This terminal change will commence for eastbound units ingating on or after Saturday, March 23rd at Los Angeles, CA and Lathrop, CA. CSXT will advise on the effective date for westbound shipments originating at Hulsey bound for Los Angeles, CA or Lathrop, CA.
