California - Atlanta Service via Shreveport Shifts to Austell

Announcement Number: IM2012-371
Categories: Domestic Terminals
Posted Date: July 10, 2012

Dear Intermodal Customer,

Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern's interline service from Atlanta, GA to LATC, CA and from LATC and Lathrop, CA to Atlanta, GA will originate and terminate at NS' Austell, GA terminal instead of Inman, GA. Service from Atlanta to Lathrop will continue to originate at Inman, as it does today. Cutoff and availability times are unaffected for all lanes.

The shift provides the same industry-leading schedules in place today between California and Atlanta while improving the fluidity of the Inman terminal. As a result, EMP and chassis availability will improve at both facilities.

For Eastbound units, this change is effective immediately. Westbound, units bound for LATC in-gating after 2000 Friday, July 13 must be brought to the Austell terminal. Traffic destined to Lathrop will continue to originate at Inman.

Customer billing will need to be updated by lane to reflect the following changes:

  •  Lathrop, CA to Austell, GA
  •  LATC, CA to Austell, GA
  •  Austell, GA to LATC, CA

Thank you for your commitment to Intermodal and Union Pacific Railroad.

 Sincerely,
Intermodal Business Team
