Urgent: Chicago Global 2 Lane Specific Gate Closures

Dear Premium Customer,

Union Pacific is currently experiencing constraints at our Global 2 Intermodal Facility in Chicago due to the effects of winter storm activity and near zero temperatures. Capacity is exceeding fluid limits and constraining our ability to work trains. In order to increase terminal velocity, the following plans will be implemented today, February 9th.

Westbound ingates at Global 2:

  • The gate at Global 2 will close to local traffic destined to Lathrop, CA, Oakland, CA and Reno, NV (Sparks) at 2359 CST.
  • The gate at Global 2 will remain closed to local traffic destined to City of Industry, CA, but will be allowed to continue to ingate at Global 1 per announcement on February 7th.
  • These gate closures do not apply to rail-sponsored interline shipments

Eastbound ingates to Global 2:

  • The gate at E. Los Angeles will close to traffic destined to Global 2 at 1430 PST.
  • The gate at Lathrop will close to traffic destined to Global 2 at 1700 PST.
  • The gate at City of Industry will close to traffic destined to Global 2 at 1830 PST.
  • The gate at Oakland, CA will close to traffic destined to Global 2 at 2000 PST.
  • The gate at Reno, NV (Sparks) will close to traffic destined to Global 2 at 1900 PST.
  • Gates will remain open at Lathrop and E. Los Angeles for steel wheel interchange to CSX destinations of Chambersburg, NW Ohio, South Kearny and Springfield. All other CSX destinations are suspended.
  • Gates will remain open at Lathrop and E. Los Angeles for steel wheel interchange to NS destinations of Croxton, Harrisburg, Morrisville and Cincinnati (ELA only). All other NS destinations are suspended.

All other lanes into and out of Global 2 will remain open at this time.

We are working around the clock to reopen these lanes as soon as possible. We ask that you continue to assist us by expediting the delivery of notified loads at Global 2.
