Categories: International Intermodal Terminals
Posted Date: September 30, 2024
Dear Premium Customers,
The International Longshoremen’s Association’s (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have not reached an agreement beyond the current labor contract which expires on Sept. 30, 2024. Due to the approaching expiration, there is risk of a labor strike at all ILA participating port locations. To plan for a safe and orderly shutdown, Union Pacific will be implementing the following measures:
- Effective Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 00:01, Union Pacific will implement waybill restrictions for all Port Houston Barbours Cut and Bayport intermodal lanes.
- Markets include Dallas, El Paso, Laredo, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Oakland, Denver, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Kansas City, and Memphis (Marion).
Union Pacific is in communication with our interchange partners and will continue to monitor developments between the ILA and USMX, adjusting waybill restrictions accordingly.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact your Union Pacific Sales Representative.
Sincerely,
Premium Marketing and Sales
