Want a sneak peek of what it’s like to work for a railroad? Interning at Union Pacific will give you that – and more.

Internship opportunities at Union Pacific are available for both summer and year-round sessions. Summer interns work full-time from late May/early June through the beginning of August. Year-round interns work full-time during the summer and part-time when school is in session. Departments will schedule your work around your classes.

Here are the top three advantages of interning at Union Pacific:

1. Gain real world experience at a Fortune 150 company. Not your typical internship, you’ll do more than punch a clock and warm a seat. You’ll be given several responsibilities, be heavily involved in projects and be an integral part of your team. You’ll be working on real projects solving real problems, receiving input and feedback every step of the way.

2. Career Development. In addition to gaining real-world experience, you’ll be given professional development and opportunities with interns in other departments as well as Union Pacific’s senior leaders. Union Pacific has several structured intern programs that enable you to learn the business while making personal connections with other interns and employees.

3. Company Paid Housing. Summer interns at Union Pacific are offered company-provided housing, valued at $2,000. This is especially helpful for students not from the Omaha area. Student interns are housed at Scott Court, located near the University of Nebraska-Omaha campus.

Interns working outside of the Omaha area may be eligible for a monthly payroll stipend to assist with housing needs.
