Mexican Customs System Outage at Laredo beginning Saturday August 22

Announcement Number: CN2020-35
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: August 17, 2020

To Our Customers,

Mexican Customs officials (SAT) recently notified Kansas City Southern de México (KCSM) about a system upgrade at the Laredo/Nuevo Laredo International Bridge. The upgrade will take place between 6 p.m. Central Saturday, August 22, and 8 a.m. Central Sunday, August 23.

This upgrade will require an outage to the Mexican Customs system that will impact cross-border systems at the Laredo/Nuevo Laredo U.S./Mexico border. During this time, SAT will not be able to process southbound cross-border trains.

Union Pacific will work closely with KCSM to focus on the pre-clearance of traffic during this temporary outage. Traffic loaded at Mexico terminals must have both the pedimento number and the U.S. entry number prior to being loaded to rail cars. Customers and Mexican Customs brokers should submit their northbound or southbound pedimentos before Saturday to ensure uninterrupted cross-border movement during the outage.

We appreciate your patience as we work to keep traffic moving during this upgrade.

If you have any questions, please contact International Customer Care & Support at 1-800-877-0531 or your Union Pacific representative.
