On August 16, 2022, the Presidential Emergency Board issued their report on the ongoing rail labor negotiations. Both parties, railroads and the rail labor organizations, now enter a 30-day cooling off period during which no work stoppages are allowed.
Union Pacific appreciates the Presidential Emergency Board’s time, collective effort and recommendations. We believe it is in the best interest of all stakeholders for the parties to reach agreements that provide our employees with well-deserved pay increases and prevent rail service disruptions. Accordingly, the railroads are prepared to meet with the rail unions and reach agreements based on the Presidential Emergency Board report without delay.
