Posted Date: September 5, 2022

To Our Customers,

A service interruption just south of Mason City, Iowa, is impacting operations between Mason City and Ames, Iowa. One of our bridges sustained significant structural damage and our Engineering and Operating teams are working to repair damages and restore service to the area.

As a result of the impassable route, we have issued embargoes that will impact the following locations:

  • Embargo UP093122 has been issued for interchange shipments at Superior, Wisconsin and St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • Embargo UP093222 has been issued for shipments originating or destined to rail stations located in the impacted area between Des Moines, Iowa and S. St. Paul, Minnesota.

A limited reroute plan is available to move shipments around the impacted area. Where reroutes are feasible, customers should anticipate between 48 and 72 hours of additional transit time.

We appreciate your patience as we safely work to restore service to this critical area. Please reference our Embargo page or the AAR Embargo System for additional details. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 or your Union Pacific representative.
