Union Pacific Update – A Message from Kenny Rocker, EVP, Marketing & Sales

To Our Customers,

In response to some inquiries I’ve received from customers, I would like to clarify the outcome of last week’s legislation regarding the national bargaining process.

Last Friday, December 2, President Biden signed the bill passed by Congress that ended the rail national bargaining round. The signed legislation binds the railroads and its workers to implement the tentative labor agreements for the four unions that did not previously ratify their agreements. The president’s action ended any uncertainty about the threat of a strike by rail union workers. If you stopped or slowed down shipping by rail because of that uncertainty, I encourage you to resume your shipments.

Union Pacific values its employees and heard their concerns regarding paid leave benefits. We are working with employees to make changes to address the quality of life concerns.

Thank You
We appreciate your business and look forward to working with you to keep the nation’s supply chains moving. Our Commercial team stands ready to help you find the best transportation solution to meet your needs.

Sincerely,
