Hurricane Beryl Impact Update

Announcement Number: CN2024-16
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: July 11, 2024

To Our Customers,

We have completed repairs in the Galveston area and have now resumed operations.

Although we have now returned all tracks to service that were impacted by Hurricane Beryl, it will take several more days to work through the remaining train congestion. The widespread loss of commercial power remains impactful to our train fluidity and many of the industries we serve. In addition, road transportation of crews to trains has been delayed due to traffic signal outages, fueling stations without power, and excess demand at the remaining fueling stations. As a result, delays should continue to be expected for rail shipments moving through the impacted area.

Please continue to reference our Hurricane Planning and Recovery page, which outlines best practices to follow during the hurricane season.

We appreciate your patience as we work to fully restore service to these critical areas safely. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 or your Union Pacific representative.
