Chicago Terminal Consolidation Update

Dear Premium Customers,

As previously announced, operations at Global 1 in Chicago, Illinois will be consolidated into Global 2 through January, 2021. The next important phase of this consolidation is the transition of train pairs from Global 1 to Global 2. Please carefully read the bullets below for a better understanding of ingate and outgate changes pertaining to this terminal consolidation.

Key dates for service between Chicago and Salt Lake City:

  • On Saturday, January 16, please begin waybilling from Salt Lake City to Global 2.
  • The last day to ingate at Global 1 for shipments destined to Salt Lake City is Sunday, January 17 at 1300 CT for standard service and 1800 CT for priority service.  After these times, shipments will need to ingate at Global 2.
  • Shipments originating in Salt Lake City destined to Chicago will begin arriving and notifying for outgate at Global 2 on Monday, January 18.

Key dates for service between Chicago and Portland:

  • On Friday, January 29, please begin waybilling from Portland to Global 2.
  • The last day to ingate at Global 1 for shipments destined to Portland is Sunday, January 31 at 0100 CT for standard service and 0800 CT for priority service. After these times, shipments will need to ingate at Global 2.
  • Shipments originating in Portland destined to Chicago will begin arriving and notifying for outgate at Global 2 on Monday, February 1.

Other important notes:

  • The last day to waybill and ingate at Global 1 for Seattle (Tacsim) destination is Sunday, January 31 by 0100 CT. All Chicago shipments to Tacsim need to ingate at Global 2 thereafter. 
  • On Wednesday, January 13, please begin waybilling from Oakland to Global 2.
  • The cutoff for priority service originating in Chicago destined to Lathrop will be modified to 0300 CT on Monday, January 25.
  • All equipment notified at Global 1 must be removed or outgated by Monday, February 8 at 1700 CT.
