Domestic Terminal Change Between Northern California and South/Southeast

Announcement Number: IM2022-93
Categories: Domestic Service Lanes and Schedules
Posted Date: July 14, 2022

Dear Premium Customers,

Over the past few years, Union Pacific has modernized and invested significant capital in our intermodal terminals across our network. These investments have paved the way for volume growth and a more seamless driver experience at each of our Union Pacific Intermodal terminals. As we look ahead, our commitment to investing in our intermodal network and streamlining our operations continues, and to that end, we have begun a significant terminal enhancement project at our Lathrop terminal in Northern California. The project will substantially increase capacity, enabling growth and reliable service.

In order to maintain terminal fluidity at the Lathrop facility during the primary construction phase, it is necessary to temporarily relocate a portion of the inbound and outbound shipments from Lathrop to Oakland.

In preparation for this enhancement project, in mid-September, we will transition domestic intermodal service from Lathrop to Oakland in the following lanes in both directions unless otherwise noted:

  • Eagle Pass, TX interchange (Northbound only)
  • Houston, TX
  • LATC, CA
  • Mesquite, TX
  • Port Laredo, TX
  • San Antonio (SAIT), TX
  • Santa Teresa, NM
  • Shreveport, LA interchange (Norfolk Southern)

Union Pacific will provide detailed information with cutover dates and times in one month to ensure customers have ample time to plan for the transition from Lathrop to Oakland.

We appreciate the cooperation and assistance of our customers as we continue enhancing our intermodal network to better serve and grow with you. Please contact your Union Pacific representative with any questions,

Sincerely,
