Sherman Hill

Robert Hogg

During the early 1950s, my father, George Hogg, worked on the signal gangs that installed the CTC system over Sherman Hill in Wyoming. When he was home in Paxton on weekends, he would regale us with stories about the harshness of the Wyoming weather and terrain. He also worked at the UP shops in Grand Island.

In addition to my father, I had several uncles and cousins that worked for the Union Pacific.

I still have memories from childhood of being at the North Platte Canteen when the troop trains stopped during WWII.
