Train Cars

Lori Joseph

Chapters flicker between passing cars
Compartments of life, in each
Variables of sun and clouds
Defining, the break

Threaded steel beads orbiting the earth
Carrying dreams and adventures
Heartache and loss

If you were to fill a hundred cars
For me to read
Tell me I’d discover love and the sea
Tell me one would hold a starlit sky with a symphony

Show me nature will long be cherished
Show me life after one has perished.

Always let me appreciate
Never to feel like a pauper, again.
