Roseville, Calif., May 2, 2017
The Union Pacific Foundation is granting $1,140,000 in 2017 to 153 California nonprofit organizations.
“We are proud to support organizations that work to ensure safe, vibrant and prosperous communities,” said Scott Moore, Union Pacific senior vice president of Corporate Relations and the Union Pacific Foundation president. “Union Pacific’s Building America mission extends beyond our railroad network and into enhancing quality of life in the communities we serve – which we achieve in part through our Foundation giving.”
Union Pacific assists nonprofits in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
For more than 55 years, the Union Pacific Foundation has upheld the tradition of helping nonprofits build their capacity by supporting new or existing community, cultural, and health and human services initiatives. The Foundation underwent a strategic review in 2017-2018 and will continue its giving efforts with adjustments to funding priorities, application and schedule for the 2018 grant year. The next application period will open in April 2018, with grants awarded in September 2018. Interested organizations are encouraged to visit the UP Foundation website throughout the summer for official updates.
