Embargo Issued in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin Due to Winter Weather Impact
Announcement Number: CN2022-78
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: December 29, 2022
To Our Customers,
In response to the recent severe weather events and arctic temperatures that have impacted our operations across Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, as well as the additional snow and ice accumulation forecast to hit the region over the next week, Union Pacific is implementing catastrophic embargo #UP130022 for all traffic in and out of the region. The embargo will allow us to maintain fluidity as this segment of the network works to move volumes impacted by the weather event.
The embargo will take effect Thursday, December 29, 2022, and is expected to be needed for an estimate of 14 days. Union Pacific will be monitoring the inventory levels in this region and will lift the embargo sooner if possible. Permits will be issued as needed to protect critical supply chains. Requests for permits should be submitted through Case Management (user ID and password required).
We appreciate your patience as we work to restore service to this critical area safely. Please reference our Embargo page or the AAR Embargo System for additional details. If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 or your Union Pacific representative.
