Update to Demurrage Billing Requirements - A Message from Kenny Rocker, EVP, Marketing & Sales

To Our Customers,

Back in April 2021, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) issued a decision requiring a set of data fields to be provided on demurrage invoices issued by all Class I carriers. The new rule will become effective on October 6, 2021, allowing railroads time to implement the programming changes needed to comply.

Our team has completed the system changes required to comply with the rule. Beginning next week, customers will receive invoices with the additional information for the billing period of July 2021. Please note that all of the STB required data fields, with the exception of the original estimated time of arrival and interchange date/time, were previously available on our online Chargeable Events System that monitors demurrage debits and credits on a real-time basis.

In addition, customers can continue to take advantage of our online tools that provide shipment visibility, including our comprehensive Shipment Management dashboard. The Shipment Management dashboard shows equipment “At Industry” and in the “Serving Yard” including average dwell hours, as well as a link to the Chargeable Events System. The shipment dashboard is a one-stop shop to effectively manage daily operations and gives you full visibility to your supply chain. You can access Shipment Management by logging into MyUPRR.com (user ID and password required).

If you have any questions, please contact your sales representative.

Sincerely,
