To Our Customers, July has been an exciting month at Union Pacific. We opened our Kansas City Intermodal Terminal (KCIT), launched a modernized Up.com website to better serve your needs, cutover Unit Train customers to Shipment Management and expanded our Industrial Development Focus Site program to include locations on our Short Line partners. Next week, we’re taking another big step forward with the debut of My Portal, a new customer landing page designed to give you quick, easy access to your most relevant shipping information. Before diving into the details of this launch, I want to highlight the continued strength in our service product.

Upcoming Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Billing Changes
To Our Customers, Beginning on May 2, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. CT, all waybills submitted for shipments moving via Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) will transition from Kansas City Southern (KCS) to Canadian Pacific Railway (CPRS) routing. Shipments waybilled after 11:00 p.m. on May 2, 2025, must be billed using CPRS in the route as KCS routing will be retired. Please update current waybill patterns with KCS in the route to avoid waybill failure.

To Our Customers, I’m counting down the days until the first day of spring! Despite severe winter weather affecting many areas of our network so far this year, our Operating team has worked tirelessly to meet our customer commitments. I am proud to report that January marked another all-time record for our Manifest Service Performance Index (SPI), which reached 99%, while our Intermodal SPI held steady at 96%.

Upcoming Mexico Digital Trade Platform Maintenance Outage
To Our Customers, The Mexico Tax Administration Service has announced a scheduled maintenance outage to their Digital Trade Platform (Ventanilla Única de Comercio Exterior Mexicano - VUCEM) beginning on February 8, 2025, and could extend until February 15, 2025. During the outage, automated reporting for all rail traffic from Mexico will be unavailable. Clearance documents should be manually submitted to Agencia Nacional De Aduanas De Mexico (ANAM) and the Mexican railroads by the broker community. Union Pacific will work with the Mexican railroads to manually process clearances by receiving train lists to update the car status in our systems.

To Our Customers, Union Pacific had a strong finish to 2024, driven by execution of our Safety, Service and Operational Excellence = Growth strategy. In Safety, both derailment and personal injury rates improved significantly. Service also improved, with 2024 marking an all-time record low for terminal dwell. Quarter-over quarter, we saw better freight car velocity and improvement in our Service Performance Index (SPI). Manifest SPI reached a record 98% in December, while Intermodal improved throughout the quarter, ending December at 97%, the year’s second highest level.

Electronic Data Interchange Upgrade Effective February 11, 2025
To Our Customers, Effective February 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. CT, Union Pacific will upgrade Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) requirements from version 8030 to version 8050 for several inter-carrier transaction sets. This change is being made in conjunction with Railinc’s Forward and Store EDI upgrade to version 8050 that is coordinated within the railroad industry.

Carta Porte 3.1 Requirement Update Effective October 1, 2024
To Our Customers, Per the Mexican Tax Authority, Carta Porte is a mandatory requirement for all shipments moving into, out of or within Mexico. Shipments that do not comply with the Carta Porte requirements, will be subject to penalties from the Mexican Government.
