Posted Date: May 31, 2023

To Our Intermodal Customers,

With the upcoming deadline for Carta Porte waybill compliance upon us, we wanted to notify you that we are updating the language in our Intermodal Terms & Conditions (ITC) to reflect compliance with this governmental legal requirement.

Appendix A, Section B.2 will be updated to reflect the following language. Note that there is no change to the current delay charge.

  • Clearance Requirements. Export Shipments moving via an Intermodal train destined to Mexico are required to obtain US and Mexican customs clearance and/or compliance with government legal requirements, and have communicated clearances and/or compliance to UP prior to arrival at San Antonio, TX. Failure to obtain and communicate such required clearances and/or compliance for any Shipment will result in a delay charge (in addition to all other applicable charges).

For further information, review our May 17, 2023 Carta Porte Waybill announcement.

If you have any questions, please contact your Union Pacific representative.

Sincerely,

Intermodal Business Team
