Peer Support is a network of employee volunteers who provide non-judgmental peer support to other employees who may be working through personal and/or occupational problems. The Peer Support team is designed to complement the services provided by our Employee Assistance Program, and is not a replacement for professional care.
Coordinators and volunteers are available to build a bridge to a professional resource, should such services be needed. These capable volunteers are trained to use active listening skills to help clarify issues, explore options, support the employee through the problem-solving process, and to refer the employee to professionals when appropriate.
"Peer Support is something that you cannot be assigned to do, told to do, or do half-heartedly. You have got to want to do it, to do it." – J. Sherman Bates - Locomotive Engineer
