Going to See Grandpa

Emma Huebner

When my son Dwayne was three years old we lived in Grand Island approximately six blocks north of the tracks. My father-in-law Fred worked at the car shop. One morning I was scrubbing the kitchen floor and Dwayne said "going to see Grandpa." Several minutes later I realized what Dwayne had said and headed out the door after him. He was about a block away on his way to the car shop to see Grandpa when I caught up with him just stepping off the curb. He knew exactly how to get to the shop because Dad worked down there too.
