The Lambert Railroad Family

John Lambert

As far back as I can remember, my grandfather, my father, myself and my son have worked for the railroad. First with the Missouri Pacific, and later, with the Union Pacific after the merger in 1983.

I can't remember what my grandfather did with the old MoPac in Kansas City, Mo., but my father, Cyril Lambert, was a car inspector in the KCMO train yard. I started working in the Kansas City repair facilities building cabooses, and went on to Wichita; Freeport, Texas; and St. Louis, before finally ending up in the Union Pacific General Office in Omaha before retiring in 1984.

My son Mike Lambert started in Wichita and moved around the railroad as management, and is still working as a Manager - Mechanical, North Platte, Neb. He has a few more years to go before retirement.

I couldn't ask for a better company to work for. They always treated their employees with great respect.
