Announcement Number: CN2018-37
Categories: General Announcements
Posted Date: September 28, 2018

To Our Customers,

Slow interchanges with KCSM, on account of heavier than normal volumes across their Mexican network, are creating severe congestion at the Union Pacific/KCSM interchange at Laredo, Texas. To alleviate the congestion, Union Pacific has issued an embargo for southbound traffic interchanging to KCSM at Laredo. Exclusions include intermodal service, automotive multi-level shipments, auto parts, gasoline, diesel fuel, liquefied petroleum gas, propane, wheat and corn.

In compliance with embargo requirements, Union Pacific will only accept traffic that was loaded or in the process of loading prior to 23:59 Thursday, September 27, 2018. No traffic, unless explicitly excluded, will be accepted as of Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 00:01 hours.

A complete list of active Union Pacific embargoes can be viewed on our embargo page

Please note that this embargo is not related to any changes associated with the Unified Plan 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as we work to reestablish service levels.
