In July, Union Pacific's legendary Big Boy steam locomotive No. 4014 joined up with our newest commemorative locomotive, No. 1616, which honors Abraham Lincoln's role in uniting the nation through rail and laying the foundation for America's freight rail network!
During this summer's limited excursion, the locomotives made two public whistle-stops in Greeley, Colorado.
Although the 2025 steam schedule was limited to the July stops in Greeley, the Big Boy will return to the rails in a big way in 2026 to celebrate America's 250th anniversary.
Keep Safety Top of Mind
- Stay back at least 25 feet from all railroad tracks. This includes drones.
- Railroad tracks, trestles, yards and right of way are private property - do not trespass.
- Never assume tracks are abandoned or inactive - ALWAYS expect a train.
- Be a safe and considerate driver - do not pace the train.
- Be Aware of the Environment: While we strive to provide access to all guests, Big Boy is positioned in a working rail environment with uneven walking surfaces that may create difficulty for accessibility.
