    I'm looking for a name/phone number/e-mail address for a department or employee.

U.S. mail may be addressed to the individual, using the following address:

    c/o Union Pacific Railroad
    1400 Douglas St.

Some departments list phone numbers or email addresses specifically for the employees within their group. These, if listed, may be found in the section relevant to that particular department, or through the UP Contact List.

Note: This is not a complete railroad employee or department listing, only a centralized access to those contacts which appear elsewhere on this site.

Why do locomotives blow their horns four times at the grade crossing near my house?

Locomotive crews are required to sound the horn until the locomotive crosses the street. Additional signals might be sounded if the crew believes a pedestrian, motorist, or other individuals appear to be unaware of the train's approach, or if other safety considerations, such as poor visibility or obstructions, are present.

My relative used to work for Union Pacific. How can I get information on them?

We do not have historical records on employees to share. We suggest you try some of the railroad historical societies, or the Railroad Retirement Board. They have general information about employee records (after 1935), and their Help line can assist with questions about family histories and genealogy. The toll-free phone number is 877-772-5772, or browse the Railroad Retirement Board website.

    • Dallas, Texas
    • Omaha, Nebraska
    • Denver, Colorado
    • Scranton, Pennsylvania
    • Green Bay, Wisconsin and
