Union Pacific's Third Party Flagging Policy

Union Pacific (UP) frequently receives requests from outside parties to work on or near its property for projects unrelated to railroad operations. Safety protection is required to ensure that trains and people working in the area are kept safe. When it is determined that assistance is required (i.e. flagging) in order to provide for a safe work environment, it is the responsibility of the outside party to use a qualified and capable person approved by UP. The approval process ensures the outside party understands and complies with applicable safety rules and processes to ensure a safe work environment.

RailPros

Currently, RailPro's meets UP’s flagging requirements. However, UP does not require their presence, and will consider other qualified outside parties which the third party desires to use to flag for their specific project if they meet the requirements.
