Question & Answer (Q&A) Process Overview

The Question & Answer (Q&A) functionality in UP SourceHub is used as the communication vehicle between Supply Chain, Suppliers and User Departments (users) during an open bid (RFx). All communication with Union Pacific regarding an open bid MUST be facilitated through the Q&A process. No communication outside this process is allowed.

The Q&A platform is designed as a collaborative discussion platform, with topics, subject and message threads. Suppliers can submit questions, which can be viewed and responded to by anyone with access to the bid as a Collaborator (UP employees only).

When a Supplier posts a question by opening a new topic thread, UP Collaborators will respond to all Suppliers with the answer. Once a bid is closed, no further Q&A can take place. To learn more about participating in Q&A, click HERE.

Things to Remember

  1. All communication with Union Pacific regarding an open bid MUST be facilitated through the Q&A process.  No communication outside this process is allowed. 

  2. Should there be questions that are Supplier specific, such as technical questions, Collaborators will choose to reply directly to only that Supplier.
