No other railroad in the country has retained its historical equipment and honored its past like Union Pacific. The preservation of its steam fleet speaks to the high value Union Pacific places on its heritage and role in America's history.
In May 2019, Big Boy No. 4014 returned to service after a 58-year retirement and three-year restoration project, regaining the title as the world's largest operating steam locomotive. Now in June, No. 4014 is back on the rails, traveling from Cheyenne to Omaha for the college baseball championship on the "Home Run Express".
