The Springville, Utah, Museum of Art hosts community programming for audiences of all ages.

Utah’s Springville Museum of Art fosters community and connection for visitors of all ages – and thanks to Union Pacific’s support, they now have even more innovative offerings for their youth and teenage visitors.

Funded in part by a grant from Union Pacific’s Community Ties Giving Program, the museum recently launched a weekly series of art therapy programs, sound baths and meditation classes designed in collaboration with mental health and wellness professionals.

Emphasizing creativity and social connection, these programs provide an opportunity for audiences to engage with art in memorable ways and act as a space for diverse community gatherings. The community also benefits from early-education opportunities for toddlers.

“We expect the program to grow and impact the community in many positive ways,” said Jacquelynn Sokol, the museum’s fundraising and development coordinator.

Union Pacific is committed to Building America – supporting safe, prosperous, vibrant and inclusive communities by investing in high-quality nonprofits and programs in the cities and towns in which we operate.

The Community Ties Giving Program grant helped provide project supplies for family programs like last year’s Halloween Arts Event and Santa’s Art Shop, which hosted more than 1,700 visitors combined.

“Families at both events left the museum with big smiles,” Sokol said. “One teen visitor shared her experience was ‘the biggest blast of all time.’”

Union Pacific is proud to support Utah organizations like the Springville Museum of Art through its Community Ties Giving Program. In 2023, the railroad provided more than $467,000 to local groups in the state, such as Junior Achievement of Utah, Utah Clean Air Partnership and Success in Education Foundation.

In 2023, Union Pacific’s Community Ties Giving Program proudly awarded nearly $5.1 million in local grants, benefiting 543 nonprofit organizations across its 23-state system. The small- and medium-sized grants support initiatives centered around the railroad’s key areas of giving: safety, workforce development, community spaces and environmental sustainability.

The application process is open April 1-May 31, 2024, and is competitive, ensuring a fair opportunity for all eligible entities. To read more about Union Pacific’s Community Ties Giving Program or apply for a grant, visit up.com/communityties.
