Q: When can the public view the display?

July 4: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT and July 5: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. EDT

Q: Are there any scheduled events on July 4?
A: Yes. The America250 Block Party takes place from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. EDT inside the display site and will also be streamed on Facebook.

Q: Can the public access the site outside of these hours?
A: No. There is no public access outside of the listed display hours

Q: Is there free parking?
A:
Yes. Union Pacific is offering a limited number of free parking spaces near the event site on a first-come, first-served basis. See the event map for parking locations

Q: What’s the best way to get to the event?
A:
We encourage guests to use ride shares for the most convenient experience. Ride share drop-off and pick-up helps reduce congestion around the event site and can save you time compared with parking.

Q: Is there an admission fee to see Big Boy?
A. Admission to see the Big Boy is free. Union Pacific is proud to sponsor this event and share Big Boy No. 4014 with communities across the country.

Q: How can I stay safe during extreme heat at the event?
A:
Extreme heat is possible, so please plan ahead. Drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing, and apply sunscreen regularly. Take breaks in shaded areas, and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Be aware of symptoms like dizziness, headache, or nausea—if you feel unwell, seek assistance immediately.

Q: Once I’m at the event site, will I have to wait in line to see Big Boy?
A: Possibly. Due to limited capacity and anticipated crowd size, guests should plan for wait times. Please note that waiting requires standing for extended periods.

Q: Will restrooms be available at the event site?
A: Yes. Port‑a‑potties will be available for guests during event hours.

Q: What is the event site environment like?
A: Big Boy No. 4014 is displayed in an active, working rail environment. Surfaces may be uneven, which could present accessibility challenges for some guests.

Q: Can I tour the inside of Big Boy’s cab or other train cars? 
A: No. Cab and railcar access is not available. However, we invite you to explore our online photo gallery and learn more about Union Pacific’s heritage.

Q: Where can I buy Big Boy souvenirs?
A: Merchandise will be available onsite and online. Celebrate America’s 250th and Big Boy’s Coast‑to‑Coast Tour by visiting Union Pacific’s online store—and show your support by wearing your tour gear to the event.

Q: Any tips to help plan my visit?
A: Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Stay hydrated—water bottles are allowed at the event site. Please note: there is limited seating available.

Q: Can I fly my drone?
A:
Safety is Union Pacific’s top priority. Drones are not permitted during Display Days. Additionally, when Big Boy is in motion, drones must remain at least 25 feet laterally from the tracks.

Q: Could the Display Day schedule change?
A: Union Pacific operates 365 days a year, rain or shine, and we work to minimize disruptions during Display Days. While we’re committed to providing a great guest experience, safety is our top priority. Schedules may change, so we recommend checking the event schedule for the most up-to-date information.
